First up, Happy Birthday Mum! You are the glue that keeps this family show rocking and rolling. And I love you.
Today I feel like I have been whacked on the back of the head and had my shoulders shaken. It’s been like a ‘snap out of it’ moment and it all came in the form of a recommendation via a text from a friend, a podcast episode and a self induced reality check.
Recent wise words from Kara Loewentheil (look at the sexy minx, pictured above) have struck a chord with me this morning and as she has always said in her teachings, ‘Thoughts are harmless and they’re only a problem if you believe them.’
Using kind words to talk to myself is an ongoing and interesting dialogue. I know deep down in my heart that I love myself, but often the words that I listen to – about myself and those in my space – have traditionally not done me much of a service.
So what makes Kara’s message different to that of others’ – when speaking about thought work? It’s that we need to be proactive. We don’t need to wait for unhelpful thoughts to rise up (and listen to them.) Nope, we go in talking to ourselves. We talk to ourselves with thoughts that we want to think. So talking with purpose.
So for me, this means a pre-emptive strike.

New talk: Everyone has an opinion and I love hearing them all.
New talk: It’s OK to have a rough patch – it’s inevitable and an important part of life.
