I’m looking forward to holding more gatherings in The Back Room in the future. Be sure to sign up to my weekly letter to see what’s coming up.
Saturday August 29, 2020
Do you love talking about books – especially ones that take us out of our comfort zone and help us learn something about ourselves? Join me.
The book to discuss:
Me and White Supremacy: A 28-Day Challenge to Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor by Layla F Saad leads readers through a journey of understanding their white privilege and participation in white supremacy, so that they can stop (often unconsciously) inflicting damage on black, indigenous and people of colour, and in turn, help other white people do better, too.
In this online get together we will explore, uncover, discuss and share insights into a specific book. It’s a chance to delve into non fiction (the true stories) and really get to the guts of the stories and how they impact our lives.
The intention of this Book Circle is to provide a connection amongst participants. To give us a book as a starting point for greater self awareness and sharing of our own stories. I like nothing more that a good yarn, so I see my role as kickstarting the conversation and seeing where it goes.
I am purposely choosing books that are written by strong, brave and creative women and books that open up thoughts and conversations that we may not be having in our everyday life. If there was ever a time to discuss the big issues and put our hearts on the line, then 2020 is it!
The chat is delivered over 90 minutes and Cherie will host the gathering.
You will receive some questions/ conversation starters and guidelines in the week leading up to our Book Circle.
Group numbers are limited to 8 people – so we all have a chance to contribute.
The session will be hosted by Zoom.

Chrissy Craft: Decorating a Grapevine Wreath (SOLD OUT)
Sunday December 8, 2019
This was such a blast last year (and the year before that!) so we’re going again! This is a PERFECT girls’ day out – such a nice way to spend a few hours doing something creative and for yourself.
You will shown step by step how to decorate a unique grapevine wreath using long lasting foliage and flowers. This will be the perfect stylish addition to your front door (or any blank wall for that matter) and will let Christmas guests know that you are well and truly in the festive spirit!
And the best thing about these wreaths is that they last for ages…the Chrissy gift that keeps on giving.
Using locally sourced native flowers and succulents, in this workshop you will learn the art of scale, plant placement and complimentary species to ensure that your beautiful wreath is not only capturing your personal style, but is worthy of showing off.
All materials will be provided, including wreaths, flowers, foliage, twine, secateurs etc.
And don’t forget that you will be treated to a beautiful afternoon tea during the workshop.
